Podcast Summary – Special Forces S4 E6: Grit
The episode kicks off on Day 6 with 11 recruits remaining, as intensity ramps up and the DS warns them things will move faster. Eric Decker reflects on his NFL career, proud of his Super Bowl appearance, while acknowledging that retirement left him struggling with identity and fear of failure.
The Rope Challenge (Postman’s Walk)
The recruits face a nerve-wracking task—sidestepping across a 165-foot wire high above a canyon.
- Randall, Brianna, and Gia go first. Randall powers through, Brianna stays steady, but Gia panics, yelling that the rope is on her helmet. The DS scolds her for “talking back.”
- Team 2 (Mark, Jessie, Shawn) passes. Jessie shows confidence rooted in her military-family background.
- Team 3 (Christie, Cody, Eric) struggles when Eric stalls on the wire for over six minutes—he fails.
Afterward, Eric confesses to exhaustion and fear of failing again. In a raw talk with the DS, he opens up about depression post-NFL, struggling with purpose as a stay-at-home dad while his wife Jessie’s career thrives. The DS pushes him to face his fear and find his inner grit.
Murder Ball
The next challenge is a brutal military sport—part rugby, part combat. It’s chaos: tackles, scrapes, and pure adrenaline.
- Eric redeems himself early with a touchdown for Team Alpha.
- Jessie, Gia, and Christie all give fierce performances, with Christie Rampone dominating—she’s praised later for “steamrolling the men.”
But it comes at a cost: Eric injures his hip, Andrew breaks his nose, and everyone is battered.
Emotional Reckonings
Christie opens up about her failed marriage, admitting she stayed too long trying to fix it. Despite being a strong leader as U.S. Soccer’s captain, she couldn’t lead herself at home. She breaks down, hoping her 50s will bring renewal and peace.
Medical Withdrawals
Eric’s injury forces him to leave the course. Jessie insists on going with him, saying, “We fly together.” They depart hand-in-hand—the 9th and 10th recruits to exit.

Wendy (00:01.774)
Welcome to We Won Whenever, I'm Wendy.
Lori (00:04.875)
And I'm Lori.
Wendy (00:06.722)
We are talking about Special Forces Season 4, Episode Number 6, and this one is called Grit. I think that's appropriate for this one.
Lori (00:16.672)
I think grit is appropriate for every episode.
Wendy (00:19.99)
Yeah, really. We start at 0648 hours, which is 648 a.m., and there's 11 recruits remaining. So I can't believe we're six episodes in, and I just realized that Eric Decker was married to Jesse James Decker. I just thought it was coincidental that they had the same last name. I didn't realize they were married.
Lori (00:41.154)
I didn't realize they were married either. And then, know, I'm watching the episode and she's like rubbing his beard and then she's kissing. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. So then I had to kind of like rewind it and then I had to pull up the cast on my phone and I was like, dude, they're a couple. Okay.
Wendy (01:00.054)
Yeah, I know. Like I didn't realize that there was another couple, another married couple, another ex NFL player. Like, you know, crazy. So Eric Decker is talking about his greatest achievement in the NFL was playing in the Super Bowl with the Denver Broncos. And they go out, DS has called them out and they let them know that the course is going to be moving faster and it's going to be more intense.
Lori (01:05.986)
Yeah.
Lori (01:09.782)
Yep. Yep.
Wendy (01:29.75)
and we're gonna start taking armbands. So, let them know that they need to be on their game.
Lori (01:35.928)
Yeah, they need to keep it stepped up.
Wendy (01:38.7)
Yep, they tell them to take off their bergens and they have to put them over their heads and lock it out for 10 seconds. 10 seconds doesn't seem like that long.
Lori (01:51.948)
I think when you gotta hold that heavy ass thing up, is a long time.
Wendy (01:56.192)
Yeah, I guess it was 35. I think they were 35 pounds. I saw that someplace that they're they all weighed 35 pounds and they had to weigh them every morning. Like they had to weigh 35 pounds. I know. So it was 35 pounds that they were holding over their heads.
Lori (02:07.536)
jeez.
Wendy (02:17.654)
So they get up to, they're on the way to the course.
And prior to that, actually, Chanel was having a hard time holding that. Number eight was having a hard time holding that over her head. I mean, she's a tiny person. the fact that they're all holding the same amount over their head is a little bit crazy to me, right? Yeah. She said she's, you know, she's like, I'm crying like a little bitch. Like she was upset at herself for being emotional. But I think, listen, the fact that you're even still there and you're participating, like don't be upset at yourself, you know.
Lori (02:37.362)
yeah.
Lori (02:41.548)
Well, yeah.
Lori (02:55.106)
that you're there at all is just fantastic because I would not be. Especially that you get paid, whether you stay or not, you get paid the same whether you leave the first day or you stay the whole time.
Wendy (02:57.559)
Yeah.
Wendy (03:00.919)
Exactly.
Wendy (03:12.246)
Right. Right.
Lori (03:13.592)
So, yeah.
Wendy (03:15.598)
So on the way out to the course, Eric is talking about his wife, Jessie James. Someone asked, you both work from home? And he's like, well, no, she's my sugar mama. And he's referring to Jessie James, because he's retired. mean, he's an ex-NFL player.
Lori (03:25.858)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (03:32.16)
Yeah, so I think he stays home with the kids.
Wendy (03:34.796)
Yeah, yeah.
So the next tech test that they're going to do is they're going to be running through a terrain with their packs on. I don't know how far the terrain is because they don't really tell us.
Lori (03:50.67)
Right. But you know, I wanted to mention when before when they were getting ready in the tent and then they went outside to line up and the one person, I forget who it was, one of the girls got in trouble for their shoelaces not being tied. he's, the DS said, you know, why aren't you guys looking out for each other? And you know, in a real life military situation, your team,
That's how it would be. You would be totally looking out for each other and everything. But I think because this is a competition, it kind of changes that dynamic about it.
Wendy (04:30.51)
think or either that or they're so you know they're worried about just getting through it themselves that they're not yeah exactly exactly
Lori (04:36.056)
Surviving, yes, yeah.
Wendy (04:41.596)
G is struggling to get through this, this, trek through the, the, the terrain and, Brianna is telling her like, don't give up, keep it up. Like she's, you know, hyping her up. And number eight, It was, yeah, it was uphill. It was a tough terrain. It's not like they were running like, you know, a flat, sir. It was, it was a tough terrain. And number eight is really falling behind. Like she's, you know, she's really struggling and that's Chanel.
Lori (04:53.25)
Yeah, wasn't it like uphill? Wasn't it uphill too? Yeah. Crazy.
Lori (05:01.463)
Right, right.
Lori (05:10.776)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (05:10.838)
And the DS says to her, like, you can't even see your teammates anymore. You've fallen so far behind. They're out of your view. So he takes her armband. He says, you're out. So now it's 10, 21 hours, and 10 recruits remain, which is 10, 21 in the morning, AM. I felt bad for her, because I know that she really wanted to continue. She just physically didn't have it in her.
Lori (05:18.744)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (05:31.107)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (05:37.707)
No, I don't think she did.
Wendy (05:41.092)
The next thing they're going to do once they get to where they're going is they're going to do what they call a postman's walk, which is they're going to walk between two mountains and they're going to sidestep on a 165 foot wide stretch of rope that they said 165 feet above the canyon floor.
Lori (05:58.765)
Nope.
Lori (06:04.526)
That's why I'm saying nope.
Wendy (06:06.946)
That looked crazy. That looked crazy. So they're going to break them up into two teams for that. The first team was Brianna, Randall Cobb, and Gia. So Randall was the first one to go. also they had 10 minutes. The entire team had to get across the canyon in 10 minutes total. If it took any longer than 10 minutes, they fail, which for three people,
Lori (06:08.854)
Yes. Very crazy.
Lori (06:32.013)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (06:36.948)
That's not a lot of time. It's not a lot of time. Randall's the first one to go across. He's the one who's gonna set the pace. I thought he was doing a good job. He looked like he was doing a good job. I he was wobbling, but he was fighting through it. He got across it in under two minutes. And then next up was Brianna. Brianna does it in four minutes.
Lori (06:38.612)
No, not at all.
Wendy (07:03.668)
Four minutes are left, but by the time Gia gets up there. She has three minutes and 35 seconds Which isn't enough time? It's just not enough time because honestly like if it wasn't timed I I mean they would have done it like she definitely finished it, but she didn't finish it in time and The DS is yelling at G as she's going across and I guess what happened was her rope the top rope was stuck on her helmet She had this thing on the top of her helmet
Lori (07:10.37)
Right.
Lori (07:21.24)
Right.
Wendy (07:32.388)
So she was having a hard time maneuvering. And she's yelling that at him, that my helmet's stuck. And he doesn't care. He doesn't care that her helmet's stuck.
Lori (07:42.478)
He yelled back at her, I had it in my mouth the whole time that I still got across and he did have it that rope like jammed by his mouth.
Wendy (07:50.796)
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's like, stop talking back or I'll throw you the F off the course. And she was like, I'm sorry.
So the next group up is Mark Estes, Jesse James Decker, and Sean. So at this point, we learn a little bit about Jesse James Decker, that she comes from a military family, that her biological father was in the Army, and her stepdad was Air Force. So she feels like she was raised around this.
Lori (08:28.706)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (08:30.552)
I mean they did pass, the three of them. They were the first ones to pass.
The final team is Kristi Rampone.
Eric Decker and Cody Brown. So I don't remember. I think Eric went first. Eric went first.
He was six minutes and then Christie Rampone and then Cody Brown was the last one to go.
Lori (09:05.923)
Right.
Wendy (09:07.172)
And what did I write about Cody?
Lori (09:10.68)
I know he made it across.
Wendy (09:13.494)
He made it across, but they failed because he didn't make it in time. They all made it across, but he didn't make it in time, so they failed. And that was another one. He was so close to the end. But you know.
Lori (09:25.059)
Yes.
Wendy (09:28.694)
On the way back, Eric Decker was coughing really bad. I mean, you could hear it was not a good cough.
Lori (09:34.83)
You know, Eric Decker, he did that ropes thing totally different than anybody else. I don't know if you noticed that. Because he had a different way of holding the top wire with his arms. He was like leaning into it where everybody else was kind of leaning back and had, he just did it totally different. And then he did some weird thing where when he was faltering in the middle, then all of sudden he put the rope like behind his head.
Wendy (09:42.38)
In what way?
Lori (10:01.996)
So he did it two different ways than everybody else did.
Wendy (10:06.832)
that's interesting. I didn't notice that.
Lori (10:08.931)
Yeah.
Wendy (10:11.204)
So when they get back to the base camp, the DSs decide that they don't know that much about Eric Decker, so they're going to call him back and find out what his story is. They ask him how he's feeling. They ask all of them. He says he's exhausted mentally and physically. He's sore. They ask what his reason for going on the course was. And he said he wanted to do something harder than he'd ever done before, which I think
I commend him for that. That's a great reason to be there. He's doing it for himself. The DS says, well, why aren't you pushing? He doesn't feel like he's giving it his all.
Lori (10:46.189)
Yeah.
Lori (10:53.578)
And he says he's afraid to fail, right? And that's he says, he's afraid to fail.
Wendy (10:53.633)
He's like,
Right. Yeah.
Wendy (11:00.728)
The DS thinks he's only giving it 80 % and he said, I want you to give it 100%.
They asked him if he was happy the way his pro career ended. He said he was fearful to fail and be cut later in his career. So it was just easier for him to retire. So he made the choice. And listen, I think that's a tough decision, especially for any professional athlete. As you get older, it gets that much harder to recover from an injury. And...
Lori (11:22.861)
Yeah.
Lori (11:33.418)
Absolutely.
Wendy (11:34.934)
There's younger people coming in the game all the time and to have to compete with them. I think it's the right decision to retire.
Lori (11:38.242)
Yeah.
Lori (11:42.296)
I think it's a smart idea because listen, one of these times you're to take that hit and it's going to like fuck you up too bad. And you're going to walk away with a serious injury. So I understand where he's coming from, that it upset him to have to do that. But you can't always go out with a blaze of glory. Sometimes you just have to go out with just a little bit of fire and you're fine.
Wendy (11:50.787)
Right.
Wendy (12:05.219)
Right.
Wendy (12:10.723)
Yeah.
Lori (12:11.758)
And it was interesting because back in the tent, and I think it was in Jessie's confessional kind of thing, where she said she just can't imagine not having that adrenaline rush from playing the football anymore. She's like, you know, I still get it when I go on stage, so I know what that rush is. And to just have it all of a sudden gone, it's got to be freaky.
Wendy (12:40.098)
Yeah. And I love that she acknowledges that for him, you know?
Lori (12:44.588)
Mm.
lord, and then we do that murder ball. Good god.
Wendy (12:47.926)
even
my god, yeah. He also mentions that, you know, he's a father of four kids. So it's not like he's sitting at home twiddling his thumbs, you know? You know? Yeah.
Lori (12:55.875)
Mm-hmm.
no no no no, he's running.
Wendy (13:04.868)
When he gets back to the camp, they ask him how it went. he's like, it went okay. He said, Jesse tells me, they're just trying to motivate me. They wanted to motivate me to do, to be better at myself. And Randall says, wow, I really want to kiss my wife and hold my babies. Because he sees them together.
Lori (13:21.998)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (13:29.25)
Yes. Yes.
Wendy (13:39.588)
When did it come out that Christy was divorced? that in the tense that it came out?
Lori (13:46.862)
I don't remember. didn't write that down. But yeah, I thought that was sad. Yeah, I thought that was sad. It was sad. Because it doesn't seem like her husband was a great guy. It doesn't seem like he was supportive. And I know, I'm feeling like she had a really hard time of it.
Wendy (13:50.284)
I have that as my next note. It must have come out in the tenth. Yeah, I did too. Yeah.
Wendy (14:08.3)
Yeah, actually it did come out in the tent at this point. think Randall must have asked her because she said that she stayed longer than she should have and now trying to heal, but she feels like it's too late. I think that is sad. I mean...
Lori (14:14.754)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (14:20.672)
It is sad, yeah.
Especially, you you're trying to be a professional athlete. You're on the road. You got your kids with you. You got no backup. It's you, you know. That's a tough game to be in.
Wendy (14:24.545)
on their way.
Wendy (14:30.371)
Yeah.
Wendy (14:38.966)
I agree. They're on the way to the next challenge and Randall says, and you had mentioned this earlier that somebody had said this, Randall said, we just got to get to dinner. So just.
Lori (14:50.848)
Yes. Yep. Just get to the next meal.
Wendy (14:53.896)
get to the next meal and as soon as he said that I was like that's what Laurie said they said to keep them going. And now they're going to complete you know they're going to do the murder ball. This was ridiculous. This was ridiculous. So they're splitting into two teams alpha team and Bravo team. And the goal is to get the ball over the opposition's line right.
Lori (14:57.771)
Yep.
Lori (15:05.025)
Yes.
Lori (15:17.41)
Yeah, make a touchdown.
Wendy (15:19.114)
Right. But like brutal size and speed and strength doesn't count for anything. Like you just need to get the ball across however you do that.
Lori (15:28.778)
Mm-hmm and playing it on that nasty mud.
Wendy (15:31.66)
Yeah. Honestly, I didn't understand the game. So first in is Andrew East and Eric Decker and they're head to head.
Lori (15:39.362)
But they must have eaten that alive though. They must have been like, yeah, let's go. Cause they're football, you know what I mean? They're football. So they're like, okay, give me a ball and somebody I got to tackle and I got to get the ball away from them, game on. You know what I mean? I'm just saying, I could just like, imagine the adrenaline rush. They're like, yeah.
Wendy (15:45.316)
Well, because that's what they do. Right. Right.
Wendy (15:56.142)
Right.
Wendy (16:01.366)
No, I can totally imagine that too. So Andrew East gets the ball first and, know, Decker tries to stop him, but then the DS sends Mark in as well. So it went from like a one-on-one challenge to now a two-on-one challenge. I'm like, well, this isn't making sense. And then they're fighting over the, like it didn't make sense to me.
Lori (16:20.172)
Yeah, I don't, yeah, I think it was just to get the ball. It was just to get the ball. It didn't matter who was in there. Like just the focus was to get that ball. didn't matter whether you had 10 people coming at you, but I'm to tell you something right now. Those girls came in. Woo. They were like whack and chicken fry. She was, she was throwing punches.
Wendy (16:47.48)
I know.
Lori (16:48.588)
kicking nobody else did that at all. was like, damn girl, look at you like straight fighter. It was just terrible.
Wendy (16:51.533)
I know.
Wendy (16:55.748)
I the fact that, I mean, Christie's the one who finally gets the ball and scores, right? I mean, what does that tell you, right? No, they get, mean, it was brutal. It was actually brutal to watch it, to be honest with you. I was like, this isn't any sport I've ever seen. I mean, you know what it seemed, I think it was probably more like a rugby, but I don't really watch rugby. I think they play like that in rugby. Like, it's just like, yeah.
Lori (17:01.239)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
Lori (17:12.087)
No.
Lori (17:18.19)
I have no idea. I have no idea.
Wendy (17:23.81)
And then the final battle is going to be all the recruits.
Lori (17:29.71)
Yeah, it's just a free for all.
Wendy (17:31.414)
It was just a free for all. It starts out with Mark Estes has the ball, then Randall's out there, then Brianna's out there. Once again, Christie winds up getting the ball and runs and scores. So, yeah.
Lori (17:32.888)
Just get the ball and get it across.
Lori (17:46.862)
That must have been so nice for her though, because she failed at almost all the challenges to date. So that must have been a nice little boost for her.
Wendy (17:52.846)
Yeah.
Wendy (17:56.386)
Yeah, I felt good for her for that. I was glad that she got, you know, she got those wins. The competition's over. The three NFL stars come out the worst. Because honestly, I mean, I think Andrew broke his nose, they said. I mean, Eric Decker hurt his back. Randall was struggling to begin with before he even got out there. I mean, I think Andrew really hurt his back bad, so much so that, you know, they're not gonna let him continue.
Lori (18:06.978)
the worst.
Lori (18:17.858)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (18:23.702)
Yeah, I think so too.
Wendy (18:28.622)
So they all get back to the base.
Jessie says to Chris, you know, I thought that was fun. Like they, the women enjoyed doing that, which I was glad to see that.
Lori (18:40.774)
Yeah, it's really funny. But I mean, really for real chicken fry, man, I just, couldn't believe, and pun. I was like, Whoa, just like throwing down in the back alley.
Wendy (18:46.146)
I saw her kicking too.
Wendy (18:50.585)
Yeah.
Wendy (18:54.692)
So the DS's need to decide who they're going to take back this time and they decide they're going to take back Christy because she feels like, you know, she's a strong woman and she steamrolled all the men. She, as they said, she really turned it on. So they want to learn more about her.
She gets back there and they say, prior to this challenge, I didn't really notice you much. You kind of were just there. You didn't really stand out. But today, you really turned it on. And she said, well, this is something way out of my comfort zone. I'm scared of everything on this course. But I guess once she got a ball in her hands, then she was.
Lori (19:40.856)
Sure, yeah. She was like the football guy. She was like, yeah, game on. You can do something with a ball.
Wendy (19:45.988)
Yep. Yep. Yep. She's like, it's way harder than anything I've experienced in my 19 years of playing soccer. And listen, anyone who does a professional sport for 19 years has got to be disciplined. It is a long time.
Lori (20:01.58)
That's a long time. Yeah, most definitely.
Lori (20:06.934)
And when you, you after her tactical questioning, and you know, you find out that she, you know, took her kids with her. So not only was she an older woman in a highly competitive sport, you know, at the end of that 10 years, she was also somebody who was dragging her kids around all the time too. So talk about exhaustion.
Wendy (20:13.08)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (20:19.074)
Yes.
Wendy (20:32.344)
Yes, two daughters, yes. Yep, they grew up on the road, she said.
Lori (20:37.794)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (20:43.17)
They said to her, did your husband come with you too? And she said, no.
They said, where is he at? She said, at home. She said, I was the breadwinner, on the road every day, doing everything.
Lori (20:56.782)
And then she said, you know, coming home and then having arguments. Not good.
Wendy (21:01.508)
Yep.
Wendy (21:05.643)
And she also said the hardest thing is admitting that you're in a toxic marriage.
Lori (21:10.574)
And I'm sure she probably like a lot of people do, you know, you feel like you want to stay in the marriage until your children are a certain age and just pretend that everything is good, you know. And like she said, I was a leader, team leader for years. led team of all these women, all these outlets, but I couldn't lead in my own marriage. So it's almost like leading a double life, which is exhausting.
Wendy (21:31.0)
Yeah, for eight years.
Wendy (21:39.8)
Yes, yes.
Wendy (21:45.476)
I think it's good that she's there. I think it's good for her that she's there and good for her daughters to see her there. I mean, because they've seen her on the road with her all those years and they know who she is.
Lori (21:50.425)
most definitely.
Wendy (22:03.092)
So she gets back to the tent and they ask how it was and she said, you know, it was hard as shit. I'm hoping my 50s are better than my 40s. Well, I don't know, Christy, but as someone in their 50s, 50s may not be better than your 40s. Yeah.
Lori (22:19.202)
You're kind of sucking, girl. It's kind of sucking. So I don't know what to say. Just go do whatever you want to do and have some, do some fun shit and just fuck everybody because that's all that's left.
Wendy (22:29.878)
Yep.
Yep, exactly. So Eric is really struggling with the pain. So the medical, call him back and they're concerned with his hip and they don't think he can safely carry on. they have to, the DS's take his armband and tell him that he needs to quit. And as soon as he goes back and tells Jessie, she goes, I'm going with you. I'm out. And honestly,
Lori (22:35.214)
All right.
Lori (22:56.524)
Yeah, I'm out. Yep. It was great. And it was nice you got to actually see like a goodbye between them all. Like you really didn't get to see that. And, you know, he probably had some type of injury previously from football, you know, cause I know we said he hurt his back, but then they're like your hip. So I'm wondering if he had some kind of previous injury, you know, like what, that he had the list from when he signed up.
Wendy (23:04.258)
Yes. Yes.
Wendy (23:12.611)
Yeah, probably.
Wendy (23:25.55)
Could be. Yeah, yeah, could be.
Lori (23:26.562)
You
Wendy (23:29.932)
It was nice to see them all say goodbye and it was nice that she stood by her husband and I'll be honest with you, I don't think she's a quitter. think that what she, I think by her leaving, I think that was the stand up thing to do. I think it was the stand up thing to do.
Lori (23:32.407)
Yeah, it was nice.
Lori (23:40.811)
no.
Lori (23:44.834)
Well, you know what she did? She did what was good for her. She did what was good for her. that's what was important to her. That was what was good for her. So she's a winner no matter what.
Wendy (23:49.038)
Yeah.
Wendy (23:56.524)
And he was fine with it too. He was like, yeah, okay. Yeah.
Wendy (24:03.692)
She has to go report to the DSs and let them know that she's going to be leaving. And now they are the ninth and tenth recruits to leave.
Wendy (24:17.472)
And as she's leaving, she said, we fly together, meaning her and her husband, which I thought was good. And those are the only notes I have.
Lori (24:28.192)
Now, I watched a whole podcast with them. So on the podcast was Andrew and Sean, Jesse and Eric Decker, Ravi.
Lori (24:50.464)
Randall Cobb. And I think that's it. So seven out of the 20 people are from Nashville. On the show, yes. And yeah, so Eric Decker was asked season one, but his wife was on tour, so he never did it. Jesse Decker didn't want to really do it at all, but they only wanted Eric as a couple.
Wendy (25:02.725)
that's interesting.
Lori (25:19.214)
They only wanted, they wanted another married couple. So she said, yes, she would do it. Um, Randall Cobb, uh, when they called him, they told him he had 48 hours to make a decision and he only watched two episodes. And then, uh, he had to give an answer. So he only had two and a half weeks to prepare and he wasn't even working out at the time.
And a big thing he said was he didn't factor in anything at all about the psychological aspect of it. Let's see. Yeah. And then they were telling a story about how when they were in the car going from one challenge to another, sometimes it was like an hour that they were in the car and the producers were in the car and they figured out that the producers always had snacks.
Wendy (25:58.604)
Which is huge.
Lori (26:18.19)
So they said it was like this really bizarre thing. Like they would ask the producers if they could have a snack, but you couldn't just say, what do you got? Can I have some? Andrew was saying that you had to like guess in order to get the snack and they wouldn't talk to you. So you had to say like, do you have a parabor? Do you have an apple? Do you have an orange?
And if you got it right, then they would just go like this. They would put it behind them and not say a word and give it to you. So I thought that was really funny. Yeah. You could only get it if you guessed. and then one time, Jesse and I think Ravi, no, Jesse and Randall Cobb were in the back seat on a ride.
Wendy (26:49.976)
You could get it.
Wendy (26:57.245)
that's interesting.
Lori (27:16.194)
you know, go into a challenge and they kept telling them, you know, about dehydration. So therefore everybody, all the cast members kept drinking water and drinking water, but then you had to pee all the time. So then you're in this car ride for like an hour and they kept telling the producers, you need to pull over, he's got to go to the bathroom. You got to pull over. And they wouldn't. So finally Randall got, had two empty.
Wendy (27:30.734)
Right.
Lori (27:45.484)
water bottles and just started filling them up. And Jesse was messing around with producers going, he's going all over the floor. You're going to have to clean this all up as soon as we put them. But meanwhile, he was going in the bottles. then at night time in the tent, if you had to go to the bathroom, you couldn't go alone. You had to wake somebody up. And the lady,
Jessie Decker says she really doesn't sleep well at all, even at home. Like she has this whole routine in order to go to sleep, you know, with like a countdown and like all this different ritualistic things that she does in order to fall asleep. And she said she just couldn't sleep. So she barely slept the whole time they were there because she kept being afraid that, okay, I'm gonna fall asleep and then they're gonna wake us up to go do something. So she was always the bathroom buddy.
Wendy (28:26.551)
Right.
Lori (28:44.62)
So you couldn't go alone. Ravi said he was a big con artist. I told you before that he brought the earplugs, but he also told the med staff that he gets migraines. So they gave him a bottle of Advil. So he was like the drug supplier. He gave everybody the Advil.
Wendy (28:55.8)
Yes.
Wendy (29:07.842)
Yeah.
Lori (29:13.43)
Cody had some like weird expired like caffeine stuff that he was trying to pawn off on everybody like a supplement and it was like, no, it's expired. and Sean's wife on the podcast also said that he was on something the whole time. Cody that like, it was crazy. And Andrew was saying that he was like,
Wendy (29:38.04)
You think it was caffeine? Do you think it was caffeine?
Lori (29:40.374)
I think it was probably, maybe he's on some steroids. Maybe he's on some, you know, there's a lot of jacked up supplements that you can, you know, like creatine. There's stuff that can like really, you know, amp you up. And another weird thing is Cody said that like he hardly ate anything because every time they went to put something in front of him, he was like, that's got pepper on it. can't eat it. So was very weird.
Wendy (29:53.666)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (30:10.574)
And Andrew was saying how there was like, you know, even especially for the helicopter challenge, you would think when you got there, there would be like safety prep, like duck down, don't do this, blah, blah, blah. He said, no, was just like, he was like, this is the most dangerous thing. He said he couldn't believe how dangerous it was. It just slapped you on there, like with no, no regulations, no, nothing, nothing.
Wendy (30:33.922)
No training, right?
Lori (30:38.808)
Jessie Decker said she felt like everyone became a different character of themselves that maybe you wouldn't have seen if not for the show. So I thought that was very interesting. And let's see. Ravi said that his hack for getting through everything was to always try to find somebody to help. I thought that was very, very sweet.
Wendy (30:49.656)
Yeah, that's interesting. Yeah, yeah.
Wendy (31:08.516)
Yeah, that is sweet.
Lori (31:10.19)
Let's see what else. So, oh yeah, yeah, it was fun. Let's see.
Wendy (31:12.676)
I love this behind the scenes information.
Wendy (31:24.28)
I did start listening to Sean and Andrew East's podcast that you told me about. They've been doing it for two years, not 10 years. But I do like them. I like their dynamic together. Yeah.
Lori (31:34.849)
two years? What'd I say, ten years? I just made that shit right up.
Lori (31:41.582)
Oh, they also said, yeah, they're very, yeah, awesome. They also said, the last thing I have is the psychologist told them that they would be need like a safe word when they got home. That from all this, you know, rush of adrenaline that it was going to take a while to like decompress. And the psychologist told them, you know, there's going to be times where you're just going to have to like have a word with your partner. And then that word means that you just go.
and just decompress somewhere a little bit by yourself that that was going to happen. And then Sean and Andrew, remember I told you that the other podcast I listened to, watched on YouTube, they were gone for two weeks before this challenge, came home for a week and then left for this. Now when they got home, they were home for a week and took their kids on another vacation. was like, wow, crazy. Wow. Yeah.
Wendy (32:26.733)
Yes.
Wendy (32:37.838)
Good for them.
Lori (32:39.768)
But they said it was very helpful for them because then they weren't going from being all amped up on the show to being home in a regular routine and acclimating. They went from the show to just a week at home and then away somewhere and they felt that that was very helpful for them to kind of get things back on track. And then another thing I was wondering, I wonder like if a show like this, like I wonder if they have it.
preset up that if by, you know, the third episode or something, nobody's left that somebody's going to have to leave. you know I mean? Because you can't just keep doing the show. Yeah.
Wendy (33:22.85)
think that they do. think that they do. Yeah, I mean, I think that they do. Because, you know, they said before this episode started, like, we're gonna have to start taking bands. And they took Chanel's band. I mean, this episode, we lost three people. So now we're down to eight.
Lori (33:35.821)
Yeah.
Yeah, because you got to start getting rid of people even if they're not failing because you can't end up at the end with everybody still there.
Wendy (33:43.222)
Right, right.
Wendy (33:49.622)
Right, Yeah, I'm looking forward to the next episode.
Lori (33:51.768)
So we'll see.
Lori (33:55.756)
Yeah, me too.
Wendy (33:58.796)
Anything else to add?
Lori (34:00.182)
Nope, that's it.
Wendy (34:02.142)
Okay, so until next time, thank you for watching and listening. Please subscribe and give us five star reviews. Bye.
Lori (34:10.402)
