Special Forces-Daughters, Demons, and Deep Water

Podcast Summary – Special Forces S4 E2: Survival

Day 2 begins with 17 recruits left. Teresa struggles with the physical demands, already complaining about small comforts like napkins. The day’s challenges test endurance, fear, and emotional strength.

Underwater Escape Drill:

  • Recruits must hold their breath underwater, escape a submerged plane, and exit correctly.
  • Eva and Jussie go first—Eva makes it out but needs rescuing, while Jussie repeatedly exits the wrong door, failing twice.
  • Several pairs fail, including Teresa & Gia, who are reminded that Teresa must stop leaning on her daughter.
  • Jussie is pulled in by the DS, admitting he’s haunted by the fallout of his highly publicized scandal and is desperate to redefine himself.

Emotional Cracks:

  • Teresa admits her past violent outburst against a cheating boyfriend, but later withdraws when she can’t watch Gia fight.
  • Eva is too shaken to continue and is pulled from the course for her safety.
  • Gia opens up about her trauma—her parents’ legal troubles, her mom’s imprisonment, and the heavy responsibility of caring for her sisters at just 13. DS tells her she no longer needs to carry her mother’s burdens and should now carve out her own path.

Milling (Fight Challenge):

  • Brutal one-on-one brawls force recruits to fight without emotion.
  • Shawn Johnson East and Brianna Chicken Fry fight to a bloody draw.
  • Other fights end in wins or draws, but emotions run high throughout.

By the end of Day 2, only 15 recruits remain. The DS emphasizes stripping away emotions to survive, while the younger recruits like Gia face their deepest personal triggers.

Wendy (00:01.208)
Hi, welcome to We Wine Whenever, I'm Wendy.

Lori (00:04.007)
And I'm Lori.

Wendy (00:05.806)
And we are talking about Special Forces Season One, Episode Number Two. Actually, it's not Season One, it's Season Four. Season Four, Episode Number Two. This one's called Survival. We are on Day Two and there's 17 people remaining when we start the episode. Theresa is complaining about not having napkins while she's eating breakfast. I think it's so funny. It's so funny. I know.

Lori (00:13.268)
Season four, yeah, yeah, season four.

Lori (00:24.286)
Mm-hmm.

Lori (00:31.22)
Good god. Like of all the things. Of all the things. You're like pooping on a piece of plywood with a hole and you didn't lay them up. Breakfast napkins? my god.

Wendy (00:36.544)
Yeah.

Yeah. I'm on a napkin. I know.

Wendy (00:46.712)
So we find out today that they're gonna be working in pairs. And Jesse Smollett says, you have to treat this like sobriety. You have to take this one day at a time.

Lori (00:57.928)
I thought that was a really good saying I have that written down too. I thought that was really good. liked it. Yeah.

Wendy (01:00.739)
Yeah

So the first challenge is they have to climb 255 foot dam. And Theresa is having a hard time with this. Because she's got these big heavy, they all do, they have these big heavy packs on their backs. It's not like they're just hiking it with nothing, but they have all their gear on.

Lori (01:17.522)
Max, yeah.

Right. Yeah. Definitely like if you would have trained for this with one of those like weighted, you know, those weighted vests would be a really good idea. And I also saw, cause remember last episode I said that I had seen something where Gia had said that, you know, the guys would help. And I did, I was looking for it and I did notice them picking up some of the girls packs.

Wendy (01:29.165)
Yeah.

Wendy (01:45.87)
Mm-hmm.

Lori (01:46.664)
when they were going up that thing. And they said that it looks like Mars. It really did look like you had landed on Mars. Just the terrain and everything. I really liked this episode.

Wendy (01:56.758)
Yeah, no, I did too. And honestly, I think that these episodes go by so fast. It's like, yeah. So she's out of breath. She's having a hard time breathing. The DS yells at her to put her pack back on, or her daughter's gonna be without her, so she puts it on. She gets to the top, and then they find out the next thing they're gonna do is they're gonna be submerged in an airplane fuselage strapped in underwater.

Lori (02:01.467)
yeah, very fast, very fast.

Lori (02:25.736)
Yeah. Crazy. Crazy.

Wendy (02:25.996)
in a pair and they have to hold their breath for 20 seconds and then escape through a specific door.

Lori (02:33.894)
Now, when they were going up that thing and there was that whole backpack issue, when Gia said that she's always in protection mode, and then the DS said, you know, now show your daughter what you can do. I was just like, you know what? I feel like this is gonna go somewhere and it certainly did later on. But I thought to myself and I wrote it down, like,

Wendy (02:39.917)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (02:51.821)
Yeah.

Wendy (02:59.245)
Yes.

Lori (03:03.592)
That's such a shame that Gia feels like that's how Gia feels.

Wendy (03:10.188)
Yeah, I mean, she has been like she said, she's been doing it since she was 13 years old. She's been there, you know? She had to grow up way too young.

Lori (03:16.965)
Yeah. Yeah.

Lori (03:20.924)
Yeah, but this thing with the plane was like crazy, crazy. And I was freaking out watching because my thought process was, because it was on a bridge, okay? So they had this crane on the bridge and the crane loaded this like fuselage of a plane down into the water. My thought was like, my God, like if that cable...

Wendy (03:23.214)
Yeah, it was crazy. It was.

Wendy (03:38.327)
Yes.

Lori (03:48.68)
So that crane broke and you were inside it. It would just have like submerged and like drop down. That's just like, my God.

Wendy (03:54.829)
Yeah.

Yeah, then that was serious. I mean, I'll be honest with you. I don't know. I think I would be freaking out too with the water coming in like that. Yeah. Yeah. So the first team to go are Eva and Jessie. And listen, I give Eva props. Like she did it. I mean, she was freaking out and Jessie did it, but he went out the wrong door.

Lori (04:07.415)
forget it, forget it, forget it. Yeah.

Lori (04:23.644)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Wendy (04:24.844)
I guess you get disoriented when you're underneath there.

Lori (04:27.762)
You get disoriented. Yeah. And you know what I thought about that too? I would definitely have panicked, but I feel like he should have let her out first. Like, I just feel like that's something that someone like, say for instance, my husband or your husband would have just automatically waited this extra second, made sure she was unbuckled and let her out.

whether he was married to her or not, just as something that they would just automatically do.

Wendy (05:01.272)
just to do it. Right.

Lori (05:07.528)
So, and I wonder if her, you know, cause once the two of them go and Jessie goes out the wrong door and she does make it out and she makes it to the top. But then she starts to, I don't know if it was like, you know, you know, it's a full blown panic attack, but you don't know what came first. Like she was just started to drown a little bit and then panicked or just panicked and then started to drown a little bit. And she just, whoa, she, the look on her face, she...

Wendy (05:07.747)
Yeah.

Wendy (05:17.527)
Yeah.

Lori (05:37.03)
She went, she went down the rabbit hole.

Wendy (05:37.25)
Yeah, no, she was going down. Yeah, she was going down. mean, they had to full out rescue her. Like when they pulled her out of the water, she was like a limp rag. know, like she was not.

Lori (05:47.378)
Yeah, yeah, just that look on her face. if it was something that was planned, which I don't know, the more I find out about the show, the more I think that it's not all staged and planned, but it was pretty scary.

Wendy (05:59.074)
I don't think it's planned.

Wendy (06:04.386)
Yeah, no, it was definitely scary. And just watching her, I think that freaked out a lot of other people that were standing on the sidelines, right?

Lori (06:11.05)
most definitely. Sure. Sure. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. And that chicken fry girl, that's who's next, right? Yeah.

Wendy (06:15.406)
Next

Yep, Brianna Chicken Fry. Yep. And the model, Chanel, they failed. They were not able to do it. And then Cody Brown and Nick Young, they also failed. Then Sean Johnson and his wife and her husband, Andrew East, they passed. They're bad ass. I think they are a power couple. Yeah.

Lori (06:37.78)
they are such a team. My God. And I've watched some podcasts with them and stuff. Like what a couple. They're really extremely, extremely nice, kind people, genuinely. And their relationship is just awesome. And they have a ton of kids. They have a ton of kids, yeah.

Wendy (06:56.129)
Yeah.

Wendy (07:00.972)
Yeah, I agree. I agree. they do?

Lori (07:06.224)
She was saying, she was saying how, she was actually, I have to look and say, but I think it was, asked for season one and had to say no, cause she was postpartum. And then thereafter, each time that they invited her, she was either pregnant or postpartum and could never do it. So at this point for this season, she was available and she was like, yeah, let's go. Yeah. Yeah.

Wendy (07:06.352)
I didn't know that.

Wendy (07:33.112)
good for her. Good for her. The next is Ravi Patel and Johnny Menzel and they pass. I don't know who was with Randall Cobb, but he failed. Do you know who was with him?

Lori (07:46.268)
Yeah, no, can't sometimes, it's very difficult for me to keep them straight. Like who's who. I wish they would put it on the screen or something, because I'm always trying to figure out like, who is that?

Wendy (07:51.425)
And they don't

Wendy (07:57.132)
Yeah, and they don't show us everybody either. Like we just get like small snippets of it, right? I guess that's why it goes by so fast, because there's so many like activities and if they showed us each one, we wouldn't get through any of the story. So then Teresa and Gia go and Teresa, she fails obviously, she freaks out.

Lori (08:02.011)
Yes, yes.

Lori (08:10.321)
And either story. Yeah.

Lori (08:20.338)
Now how do you like that, that he called them twiddly D and twiddly dumb?

Wendy (08:25.973)
Mm-hmm. Yep.

Lori (08:28.233)
I'm sorry I was laughing.

Wendy (08:30.08)
I know. It's like, but you know, listen, think Gia is strong. think she's a strong young lady. And like he said to Teresa, you have to not rely on Gia. Like you have to be the, you know, the pillar of strength for yourself.

Lori (08:43.496)
Yeah, but you definitely, you definitely, a clear path is shown to you of what their relationship is. And Gia is the parent, unfortunately in the relationship. I mean, the staff even says it, told Teresa she needs to start taking control of herself and cannot continue to rely on Gia. And then when Gia says afterwards, I had to save her.

Wendy (08:55.501)
Yeah.

Lori (09:12.114)
when they get out and they get all back to all the other contestants, that just kind of just submits it. know, cements it, just cements it, that, you know, that's how that relationship is, unfortunately, which is not healthy. It's not healthy for Gia. And it's not healthy for Teresa either because, you know, and maybe that's why she ended up with somebody like Louie, because she's...

Wendy (09:14.498)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (09:19.724)
Yeah. absolutely. Yeah.

Wendy (09:28.62)
Yeah. No. No, it's not.

Lori (09:42.084)
never had to I mean even though she went to jail and she did all that and blah blah blah I don't know you know what mean

Wendy (09:50.764)
Yeah, no, I know. You know, she's been on a lot of podcasts. And one of the things that she said is, you know, she didn't get married till she was 27, which isn't that young, right? In the big scheme of things. But she had a curfew. Her parents were very strict. She had a curfew up until she got married. So, you know, can you imagine a 27 year old today having a curfew? And people have asked her like what her curfew was. I mean, it was two o'clock in the morning.

Lori (10:02.118)
No. Right.

Lori (10:07.924)
you

Wendy (10:19.662)
But she's like, you know, I could never go out in the city. You know, she would talk about that because she wouldn't be home in time. you know, these are kind of things that kind of shaped who she is. You know, she grew up very with a very strict with very strict parents. And then she got married at 27. And then Joe really pretty much controlled everything. You know, she she just was along for the ride and, you know, sign in and didn't know what was going on. And then they get indicted and she goes to jail and he goes to jail and

Lori (10:22.642)
Right, because she won't be home in time.

Lori (10:38.58)
and everything.

Wendy (10:48.82)
know, Gia was the one there that when she got out was, you know, they're standing by her side and she was just a kid.

It's sad, actually. Next is Christy Rampone, and she needs a partner. So Jesse Smollett agrees to go again. He thinks,

Lori (10:59.325)
It is sad.

Lori (11:07.136)
I knew he was gonna volunteer. Did you think he was gonna volunteer? I kinda knew he was gonna do it. I don't know why, but I just felt like...

Wendy (11:10.958)
I didn't know. I didn't know.

Wendy (11:16.236)
Well, you think the second time he would have gotten it right.

Lori (11:19.378)
Well, know, again, there's certain things that happen and are said that kind of lead you to certain thoughts about people. it's almost like I wonder if he's like a little bit of a self-sabotager because of things that have happened that I don't know. I don't know.

Wendy (11:42.54)
I don't know. So after this, they all head back to the camp and the DSs decide that they're gonna bring in Jesse Smola and they're gonna interrogate him. And he gets in the interrogation room and he admits that he fell flat on his face and that he made the same mistake twice. And the DS asks him, like, why are you here? And he said, well, there's things that have happened to me, things that are extremely public.

you know, I was being painted as something that I'm not, you know? And I don't know about this whole story, you know, he's maintaining that, you know, he didn't lie. But he was indicted and he went to jail. And I do know that innocent people go to jail all the time. But there's not really an explanation of, you know, why he thinks this happened. I guess he doesn't really want to talk about it. But he thought coming on this show, maybe people would see him in a different light.

Lori (12:28.062)
Right.

Lori (12:42.087)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (12:42.978)
which I can understand that will then show us a different light, right?

Lori (12:47.196)
Right, right.

Now, I wanted to say something. When after Eva, after Jesse gets off the plane the second time and goes out the wrong way, that girl Eva is very sweet to him. But when he went down the second time on the plane, whoever the girl was that he went with, right, I felt like...

Wendy (13:03.789)
Mm-hmm.

Yes.

Wendy (13:13.688)
Christine Rampone.

Lori (13:19.196)
she could have been a little bit more of a team player and she could have been like, you know what, thanks for going down with me, but I know you messed up last time with a thing. So what if we go together out the door or I'll go first and you follow me so you don't mess it up. Like, I don't know.

Wendy (13:39.544)
Hmm.

Lori (13:40.517)
I don't know.

Wendy (13:42.158)
Well, maybe she thought, I mean, I don't know either, but maybe she thought because he was down there already, he knows what to do. Right. Right. Right. Like, I don't know why you think it should be her responsibility to bring him along because... Yeah.

Lori (13:48.296)
figure it out and no, not mess it up again. Yeah, this is true. This is true. Yeah.

Lori (13:57.722)
No, no, no, no, I'm just saying I just thought about it like, you know, maybe, I don't know. That was just my thought that maybe she could have been like a little bit more of a, I don't know. Maybe again, like you said, maybe you were just assuming she were just assuming that since he went once, you would know how to go.

Wendy (14:05.581)
Yeah.

Wendy (14:13.578)
I would assume since he was down there, right, you did it wrong once, you should know how to do it right the next time, right?

Lori (14:20.04)
Mm-hmm. And again, you know, another thing with Teresa, like, it's interesting because she says things and when she says them, you're like, okay, like that sounds normal and understandable. Like when they got out of doing the plane exercise and Gia said she had a rescuer and then they were in the car going to the next thing and Teresa says, they keep telling me I'm slowing you down and I don't want to.

So at face value, that sounds okay, right? Like nothing wrong with saying that, but you know, she's also not making any kind of a positive statement or a verifying like a future directive. She's not saying like, I'm gonna be more in control because I don't wanna slow you down.

Wendy (14:50.241)
Right.

Wendy (15:07.254)
Right, right.

Lori (15:08.218)
Instead, she's looking for like an affirmation. so Gia had to say, don't worry, mom, you don't. Like it was...

Wendy (15:12.038)
from GEA.

Wendy (15:18.092)
Right, she put it back on her daughter.

Lori (15:19.784)
She put it back on her daughter, right? And I don't know, like role reversal.

Wendy (15:24.332)
Yeah, no, I know what you're Yeah, there's total, it's a total role reversal. So when Jesse's in the interrogation, he says, you know, he's afraid of letting himself down. And he says like, no matter what you say, people are going to find their own narrative. And I want nothing more than to never talk about this again. Well, the problem with that, Jesse is that's the only thing people know you for right now. That's the only thing they know you for. So until you do something else,

Lori (15:49.417)
Right.

Wendy (15:53.634)
That's what people are going to talk about. So you need to make another mark on this world or do something great, you know, because that's the only thing they know you for.

Lori (15:54.046)
Right. Right.

Lori (15:59.964)
Mm-hmm.

And you are on a show and that is your past. you know, I like how the Dia said, you know, that he was afraid he was going to make himself look like a fool. And the Dia said, well, this course can't make you look like a fool. Only you can do that.

Wendy (16:05.152)
Right. Right. Right.

Wendy (16:20.59)
That's right. Yeah. So then he gets back into the camp and they, you know, they ask him how it was and he's like, it was hot and it's hot as hell in that room. They put him on the spot. He said he wants to be left alone in his life. And they're like, then why'd you come on the show?

Lori (16:32.701)
Mm-hmm.

Lori (16:40.872)
Yeah, really. So that's the thing with him. He seems to feel like showing emotion gives others kind of power because he said it twice. He said it when he was walking away the first time from the plane in the water with the woman, Ava, and he started to get emotional. He said it and then he said it again in the interrogation. So, you know, and like he said, I just want to be left alone. Like, I wonder like maybe does he...

Wendy (16:48.086)
Right.

Wendy (17:01.56)
Mm-hmm.

Lori (17:09.542)
self-sabotage and does he push people away because of all the things that he's gone to? Maybe that's how he just deals with things.

Wendy (17:19.288)
Yeah, mean, it's very possible, but I definitely think he could use some therapy. Just saying.

Lori (17:24.884)
Yeah, yeah.

Wendy (17:28.878)
Teresa says, I don't know where this comes from, but out of nowhere, she said her ex-boyfriend cheated on her and she knocked him out.

Lori (17:36.178)
Yeah, I was like, that was very random to me. was like, who? I don't know what you're talking about. Okay.

Wendy (17:38.286)
I was like, yeah, I didn't know where that came from, but I wrote it down. was like, why is she bringing this up? There was no conversation about that.

Lori (17:50.036)
And how about when she said people think that she's mean or tough? And I was thinking to myself, I never thought you were mean. I never thought you were tough. Well, cuckoo, but I never, that's not an impression I ever got about her.

Wendy (18:04.536)
think because of the table flipping, know, that's what she's notorious for and people... Yeah. Yeah.

Lori (18:06.534)
Right. Right.

Right. But to me, that's just cuckoo. That's not like tougher. That's just... kooky.

Wendy (18:18.286)
So then we find out the next challenge is milling and it's a form No, I had not it's a form of fighting It's with sheer violence and brutality you punch and continue to punch until you hear stop and Again, they're doing this in teams so the first to go is Brianna chicken fry and Shawn Johnson East and They call stop

Lori (18:21.778)
Had you ever heard of this? No.

Lori (18:34.302)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm.

Wendy (18:46.068)
and Shawn's nose is bleeding and Brianna's crying because she feels bad. Because listen, first of all, Shawn's in very good shape, but she's like 5'2", and Brianna is like 5'8". So like she didn't even have a chance, like the reach and like fighting like that, you can't put those two up against each other, you know? And Bri-

Lori (18:58.088)
Right, can't.

Lori (19:04.948)
Right, but they both did, they both kicked some ass. They both did very well.

Wendy (19:08.034)
They did, I mean, they did, they did. I mean, actually they called the fight a draw, know, so it's not like, you know, which was good. And Eva's like freaking out, so she asked to go talk to the psychologist and the doctor decides that she should not, you she should sit this challenge out. The next fight was Ravi and Jessie, that was also a draw. And then Randall Cobb and Johnny and Randall wins.

Lori (19:25.949)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (19:39.732)
Then it's Gia and that's when we find out it's gonna be Gia and Christie. And that's when Teresa takes her armband off, her number off, and she says, I'm done, I'm withdrawing, I can't watch her fight. And the DS sends her to the doctor.

Lori (19:54.677)
And again, it's just...

I just couldn't believe that Teresa did that because in that moment you're leaving your kid. You're leaving her because it's something you can't take.

Wendy (20:15.628)
Yeah, no, and that's how it is though. That's how it is. She said that she just couldn't sit there and watch her daughter get beat up that she would want to jump in. Which, you know.

Lori (20:27.15)
But I feel like she did it to spare herself. Where I feel like, you know what, your mother, in that point time, it really shouldn't have been about you. It should have been about what can I do to make this easier for my kid. Gia. And that's not what it ended up to be at all.

Wendy (20:42.392)
For Gia, right. How can I support her? Yeah.

Wendy (20:49.964)
Yeah, no, it wasn't. So when they fight, Gia and Christy fight, Christy wins. Gia gave it her all though, but Christy, listen, she's a professional soccer player. of course, you know.

Lori (21:02.104)
yeah, yeah. Yeah. Now when they were doing some other fighting, was that, I forget his name. I think he's of like Indian descent. Okay, he went into the zone. He got like the crazy eyes. That was crazy.

Wendy (21:13.206)
Ravi.

Wendy (21:21.182)
Mm-hmm. He did. And he was fighting with Jesse and that was a draw. So he did what he needed to do. Yeah. He did.

Lori (21:29.458)
Right, but he got that crazy look. And the other two girls who fought, I don't remember their names either, but they kind of like got into it like it was like the schoolyard. Like one girl fell down and the other girl was like on top of her and you know, the guy had to say stop several times and she was like beating her when she was down. was like, look at this. Like a schoolyard fight, yeah.

Wendy (21:44.14)
Yeah. Yeah.

Wendy (21:50.626)
Yeah.

Wendy (21:54.23)
Yeah, yeah, I know that was like a schoolyard fight, right? Yeah.

Lori (21:59.463)
And it was interesting how they said that they were watching everyone's emotions while the other people were fighting. And you can see, I believe it was the one girl who was the gymnast. She was like chomping on her mouth guard and like it was probably from adrenaline because she had gone already. But I just thought that was very interesting how they said they were observing.

Wendy (22:28.589)
Yeah.

Lori (22:29.416)
the other contestants and what their reaction was to the fighting. And you see G is totally cowering. Like she's turned, she has her body turned away, she's making like faces.

Wendy (22:32.779)
Yeah.

Mm-hmm.

Wendy (22:42.284)
Yeah. I mean, it is very interesting. mean, these challenges that they give them are very interesting. mean, I don't know. mean, to have to sit there and punch somebody, like, I don't know. Like, that's, I guess it's just part of the challenge. You just gotta do what you gotta do.

Lori (23:00.924)
Right. And even, you know, even the, when they, when Teresa left for Gia's fight, they even did a pan and production even said, you know, the DS said that Teresa Judice is a second recruit to leave the course with her daughter left to battle on.

Wendy (23:10.019)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (23:24.206)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. that's, yes, yes. So then after all the fights are done, they go back to the base camp and the DSs pull Eva out and he takes her armband. He said it's for her safety. She's not, she's just not cut out for this. He, you know, and she says goodbye to all of them. Now it's day two and it's 8.09 PM and there's now there's 15 crews.

Lori (23:26.162)
Like even they're like spelling it out.

Lori (23:37.716)
Mm-hmm.

Lori (23:45.374)
Mm-hmm, mm-hmm.

Wendy (23:53.998)
15 recruits left. So Gia says her family trauma with people is leaving her triggered. Then they call Gia back and they want to find out about her commitment. again, when they take off her hood, they tell her that she's having a bad hair day. He says, it looks like you swallowed a grenade. And she's crying a little bit. And he's like,

Lori (23:55.623)
Mm-hmm.

Lori (24:03.54)
Yep.

Lori (24:16.425)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (24:23.8)
take a moment, get yourself together. And she said, well, when her mom left, she started panicking. Like she made her feel secure. I guess just being there. And I can understand that, having a familiar face, even if she really wasn't helping her, just having her there.

Lori (24:37.172)
Well, that's what I'm saying is that it's just a shame because of her own lack of self-awareness. Teresa went and left her with her biggest fear. What are you doing? What are you doing?

Wendy (24:53.442)
Right, right, right, right. So she says, explains to them what happened and her dad hadn't filed taxes for like 10 years and they were both indicted and her mom had to do 11 months in prison and Gia was only 13 at the time when her mom left and then her father, ever since then, she's been, had to be an adult that she didn't really wanna be.

Lori (25:21.534)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Wendy (25:23.2)
And I remember watching her when her mother came home and interacting with her father. And she was the adult in the situation many of the times because she had three younger sisters and she felt responsible for them. And they weren't her responsibility, but at 13 years old, she still felt that responsibility.

Lori (25:41.939)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (25:47.136)
And the DS tells her she's done her bit and she doesn't have to worry about her mom anymore. And now maybe, maybe, you know, it can be a relief for you.

Lori (25:51.859)
Yeah.

Lori (25:55.869)
Yeah, he says, this is your time now. You're not carrying her around anymore. And you know what? I hope she can stay. I hope she stays and I hope she can do it because I think it would be really good for her.

Wendy (26:00.224)
Yeah.

Wendy (26:06.262)
I do too. I do too.

Wendy (26:15.81)
He said, go out there like a pocket rocket and show us what you got. So like he's, they're rooting for her, which I like that. Gia said she's very close with her family and she's really trying to create her own path so that she can stand on her own. And I could, yeah, I do too. And you know, even the podcast that I listened to, cause there was a couple where she was on with her mom and when she was alone. And it's funny cause she even presents herself differently on the podcast when her mother's there than when she's not.

Lori (26:19.102)
Mm-hmm. Cute. Yeah.

Lori (26:29.726)
I think you need to do that.

Lori (26:44.178)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Wendy (26:44.364)
You know, you could see it. It's just what, it's all she knows when her mother's around. She was on Jeff Lewis actually, and Jeff Lewis was like, know, Gia goes to the city like five days a week for work. So she does a lot of like brand deals and social media stuff. So she's going back and forth to the city.

Lori (26:48.307)
Yes.

Wendy (27:05.334)
So she was thinking about getting a place in like Jersey City or Hoboken so she doesn't have to drive because right now it takes her about three hours a day with traffic to get back and forth to the city. So, you know, she's like, she's basically on her own except for the fact that she's staying at her mother's house and, you know, she's ready to make the move and to get her own place. And...

Lori (27:14.103)
yeah, yeah.

Wendy (27:29.558)
you know, Teresa's like, well, if you're going to move out, you know, you're to take your stuff with you. And she was like, no, I want to leave my stuff here because I want to come home for the summer and I want to come home and visit. you know, I don't know, Teresa's also like, well, I don't know if we're even going to keep this big house because once her younger sister graduates high school, like they may be moving altogether. So I think G is at this place in her life at 24 years old where she's kind of trying to figure it out. Like, am I just going to move out on my own?

Lori (27:38.279)
Right.

Wendy (27:57.142)
And they had people call in because she's got a boyfriend that she's been with for many years. And she said, eventually he wants to move in with me. She goes, but I want to be on my own for a bit. And people were calling her and saying, you should be on your own for as long as you want to be. Because as soon as somebody else moves in, you're not going to be alone. And you're very capable of doing it on your own. She should get her own place and do her own thing.

Lori (28:11.796)
Absolutely.

Lori (28:16.561)
No.

Lori (28:20.104)
Mm-hmm.

Yeah, I think that would be totally awesome for her.

Wendy (28:26.414)
I do too. You I was trying to find online because there's all these rumors about like what these people make on this show. I cannot find a definite answer. So I've heard that they get like a flat fee regardless of how long they stay. There's no prize at the end. It depends on, these are things I've heard. It depends on like your level of celebrity to what your flat fee is anywhere from 100 to 200,000 to show up. Then I've seen other people

Lori (28:51.133)
Okay.

Wendy (28:55.96)
putting out online that they get $25,000 for each episode they stay, but I don't know that any of it's true because I cannot find anything official.

Lori (29:03.188)
Yeah, read the 25,000 and I read that on one of our posts that someone said, somebody wrote it because they were saying for Brittany that she walked away with 25 grand. Yeah. Because that I would do. I'd say no to the helicopter. I'd be like, to show up and do your stuff up until the helicopter? Okay. I'll take that.

Wendy (29:11.608)
Somebody wrote it, yeah.

Wendy (29:18.988)
Yeah, I don't think that's true. I don't think that's true. Like I said.

Lori (29:33.342)
But yeah, who knows?

Wendy (29:34.786)
Yeah, like, I don't know, because they're not, that information hasn't been leaked yet, so.

Lori (29:39.861)
Yeah, yeah. And did you see on the coming attractions for the next episode, they have to do this thing where they have to scale like a walk on a ladder that's bridged across two rooftops. And one of the DSs is saying to Cody as he's trying to walk over, imagine it's one of your wives over there. I that was hysterical. That was really funny.

Wendy (30:02.166)
Yes, I did see that. I did see that. I'm looking forward to, like I said, learning more about each player. Like, I feel like they're only, like we've only really touched the surface on very few people, you know? Like we don't, we don't, like we didn't really get to hear Eva's story. Like we don't, and she's gone.

Lori (30:15.304)
Yes.

Lori (30:23.892)
Yeah, I wish they would have done a little bit more of that. I watched a thing for page six with DS Foxy and he said he had a little bit of headbutting with a chicken fry, chicken fry girl, and who he thought was most formidable at first glance was Jesse and he is the person who on the show that he respects the most.

Wendy (30:38.734)
Lori (30:52.646)
I thought was very interesting. Yeah. And when asked about Cody, said he didn't, DS Foxy didn't know anything about him. And he said he turned up and he looked like the mad professor. And he said that we will be coming up on a scene with Cody. And that is actually the scene that hasn't come up yet.

Wendy (30:54.114)
He respects Jesse the most. Really?

Lori (31:21.51)
is actually the first time that he really spent any time with him. Because with the different teams and the this and that, and the way the filming went, it's not until we get to the scene that it's DS Foxy's first interaction with Cody. And he says that he's going to make this really odd noise, this really weird noise. And his first impression of him was like, he's really weird.

Wendy (31:28.258)
Mm-hmm.

Lori (31:53.149)
Yeah. So I thought that was pretty funny. And then I watched that Sean and Andrew, they have their own little podcast thing. And that's where I found out about her being asked for the first season. And she worked out six days a week for two months before the show. they said, yeah, they said they didn't know where the location was until right before they left. And they didn't know.

Wendy (32:14.99)
training.

Lori (32:23.272)
they would not put it out who they were going to be with. So they said it was a very interesting thing to really get to know people, not by anything that you can quick Google about them if you really don't know who they are, but just as who they are then and there. So they were saying how, you know, and they had to go through psychological examinations and they had to take personality tests.

Wendy (32:53.07)
That doesn't surprise me.

Lori (32:54.278)
Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know. Yeah.

Wendy (32:57.88)
That's interesting. I didn't know they had a podcast. What else do they talk about on their podcast? know?

Lori (33:03.12)
I think that they're going to do a recap every, I think they said every episode. So I'll watch that. And they also say that everybody had, it was very dusty. So everybody had like this, what they called a desert cough. And later on, we're going to find that there's one person who gets, has to leave because they get a really intense chest infection from that, from that dust. That's always.

Wendy (33:09.603)
okay.

Wendy (33:27.457)
Lori (33:31.622)
And she said that it was, she felt like it was the best experience of her life. And she felt it was like self-help on steroids and that the DS's were, would come into the tents, share their own experiences and really wanted to get to know each participant and what made them tick and try and like deconstruct them, but then reconstruct them.

Wendy (34:01.836)
That's awesome.

Lori (34:02.388)
Yeah, so I was like, good. And then he also said that, you know, that first scene when they get there and they're on the bus and they pull them off the bus and they make them change, somebody didn't wear a bra. And they said it was like really like, oh, okay, know, look away. And the guy, the guy from that couple, he had never been in a helicopter before. So I was like, oh, interesting.

Wendy (34:09.464)
Mm-hmm.

Wendy (34:31.224)
Well, think that's, I mean, I think a lot of people have never been in a helicopter before. Yeah. Yes. Just recently, just recently though. I mean, I hadn't been in one until very recently. So yeah, that's interesting.

Lori (34:33.822)
been in a helicopter before. Have you been in one? You've been in one before. Yeah, I've been in one before. Yeah. Yeah. So I like the show and I like all the background with all the people and what makes them tick and their idiosyncrasies. And I love how the DS is, like I said, want to deconstruct and reconstruct them. So I like it.

Wendy (34:57.974)
No, like it too. I like it that it's not just people fighting for the sake of fighting. And it's not catty and it's people trying to help each other. That's what I like about it. So I like the show. I'm here for it and I'm excited for the next episode.

Lori (35:03.206)
Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Lori (35:15.549)
Me too.

Wendy (35:17.11)
