Respect, Love, and Survival: Special Forces S4 Begins
Podcast Summary: Special Forces S4 E1 – “Behind Enemy Lines”
Season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test kicks off in Morocco with 18 celebrities stripped of comfort and thrown into grueling military training. Right from the bus ride through the desert, the Directing Staff (DS) show no mercy—hoods over heads, face down in the dirt, and instant insults.
We meet the full cast, including Kody Brown, Brittany Cartwright, Johnny Manziel, Teresa and Gia Giudice, Jussie Smollett, and more. Brittany joins to prove something to herself, while Nick Young jokes he can smile his way through anything.
Day one is brutal. Celebs are forced to crawl through mud, change under pressure, and rappel 100 feet out of a helicopter. Gia struggles with her exit, Nick goes eyes-shut, and Brittany faces her fear of heights. Afterward, the teams haul 800 pounds of supplies uphill—Team Alpha wins while Team Bravo runs back. Brittany reaches her limit and quits, surrendering her armband.
At camp, tensions and personalities emerge. Teresa assigned as the “toilet whisperer,” Johnny Manziel opens up to DS about lost work ethic, regret, and even suicidal thoughts, and Kody Brown sparks debate with his comments about men wanting respect and women wanting love. By the episode’s end, the celebs are already being broken down by constant sprints, icy water, and military drills—with only the strongest (mentally and physically) likely to survive.

Wendy (00:01.038)
Hi, welcome to We Wine Whenever, I'm Wendy.
Lori (00:04.348)
And I'm Lori.
Wendy (00:08.888)
Today we are recapping Special Forces. This is the fourth season. I will be honest, I've never watched it before. This is the first episode of the first season.
Lori (00:18.386)
I've never watched it either, at all.
Wendy (00:20.253)
the reason.
The reason we decided to watch this and recap this one is because there's a lot of reality personalities in here. So from Real Housewives New Jersey, there's Teresa and her daughter Gia. From Real Housewives of Atlanta, there is...
Eva Marcel, and from The Valley and Vanderpump Rules, there's Brittany Cartwright, and from Sister Wives, Reality TV, not that I watch it, but I have watched it, there's Cody Brown, and that's just the reality stars. Obviously there's other people in there, so that was our interest in it, to see what it's all about, because people have been talking about it.
So this season they're in Morocco, North Africa, and there's 18 celebrities in total.
I'll be honest with I had no idea what to expect. Did you have any idea what to expect?
Lori (01:25.75)
No, me neither. And no, and do you know the average temperature is like 100 to 104? Because I looked it up and it said that they filmed several months before the premiere. So I looked for like July. I figured, oh, let me see what it's like in July. Yeah, average temp 100 to 104 and humidity is like 67 to 71%. So it is hot.
Wendy (01:45.571)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (01:54.927)
my gosh.
Lori (01:55.75)
and humid. So not a fun time at all.
Wendy (01:58.925)
Yeah.
Wendy (02:03.441)
No, no an interesting an interesting bit of information I found out before I watch this because Teresa's been doing the media For this so I listened to her on quite a few podcasts She didn't know how to She didn't know how to swim and then she she broke Yeah, so she brought she had brought it up I don't remember which podcast
Lori (02:03.894)
Yeah.
Lori (02:18.9)
I stole that! I stole that!
Wendy (02:26.112)
She did one season in the very beginning, they brought her to a pool and taught her how to swim, but she never really used it again. Growing up as a kid, she didn't know how to swim. So when she found out she was going on this, she had to learn how to swim all over again. you know what? Listen, I know that Kelly has a very strong dislike for Teresa, but I'll be honest with you. I don't...
It's not that I like her or I dislike her. I kind of have a lot of empathy for her. I think that she's been through a lot and I think that she's doing everything that she can to support her four daughters. So I give her props. I give her lot of credit.
Lori (03:01.908)
Yes, you can't ever take that away from her. That's for sure. And not only that, I give her kudos for going on the show at all because I certainly wouldn't, not for any amount of money, for any amount of money would I ever do a show like this.
Wendy (03:10.083)
Yeah.
Wendy (03:19.766)
I I know the funny thing about her specifically is in the very first season when she was showing you the new house that she was building, right? I remember this like so distinctly. She's like, she couldn't even like, like she felt like she couldn't even live in a used house, like using someone else's toilet, her exact word would skeeve her. And to see that she's doing this today, like it just, yeah, it just shows you like, you know what I mean? Like people could change, know, they can change.
Lori (03:40.103)
Mm-hmm. And here she is. Yeah.
Lori (03:47.572)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep. The only thing I will say is I don't know why she would even bother wearing makeup at all. Like when she's on the bus, I'm looking at her and I'm like, girl, you got a full face on. what? I don't know. I guess they didn't really know what to expect or it's all she knows. Correct.
Wendy (04:03.638)
It's all she knows. It's, I was just, yeah, it's all she knows. It's all she knows. You know what I mean? Like I, I imagine if I showed up there, I would have, you know, I'd have makeup on too, right? I mean, that's, that's the end of it. Cause your first shower and it's gone. What was her comfort item? So I didn't, which it might've been Jeff Lewis. So they were each allowed to bring a comfort item. One of them brought wipes and the other one brought.
Lori (04:14.922)
Mm. Yeah.
Lori (04:18.997)
Yeah.
Lori (04:30.142)
I didn't know that. I think I would have been on the web strain.
Wendy (04:33.334)
Yeah, what? darn it. I
Wipes you think you would have brought wipes. I can't remember what the other one brought
Lori (04:39.102)
I would have been on the wipes train. yeah.
that's so interesting.
Wendy (04:45.174)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they were allowed to bring one comfort item each. So they brought one that like they could both, you know, that they could share, you know what I mean? Like each was something different that would help each other. But I cannot remember what the other one was. I'll have to do a little research and get back to you guys. So Brittany showed up there. So Brittany Cartwright is from Vanderpump Rules and most recently the Valley. She's married to Jax Taylor.
Lori (04:53.152)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (05:01.011)
Yeah.
Wendy (05:09.682)
she's in the process of getting divorced from Jax Taylor and Jax is the villain. I mean, he's the villain character. She's, the Kentucky muffin who, you know, fell in love with a bad boy. And she did this because she wanted to prove it to herself that she could do it. I feel bad for her. mean, she was there for all the right reasons. She really was, but it just physically, she couldn't do it anymore. And she was disappointed in herself and I don't. Yeah.
Lori (05:19.872)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (05:32.31)
It was too much. Hey, listen, just the fact that she dropped out of that helicopter at all, at all, is highly impressive. And you know what? Really quite frankly, I'm really proud of her for saying, you know what? I'm out. Because you have to know when you're done too, so.
Wendy (05:56.908)
Yeah, no, I agree. I give them credit. I certainly do. And that's one of the things that Gia had mentioned on the Jeff Lewis podcast also, was that this made her overcome her fears. Like doing this, like she's, you know, she's had major anxiety throughout her life, but doing this, she's just forced to just push through it. And you know what? Good for her, you know? And they also had said on...
Lori (06:09.878)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (06:24.674)
that on the podcast that they got really, I mean, they've always been close, but they got to spend all this time together. I mean, it's 10 days. All right, let's be real, it's 10 days, but still 10 days in an environment like this with your, you know, a mother and daughter team, I think is, well, we don't know if it lasts 10 days, but whatever, it's still a great experience that, and that's what was pushing her too. She even said like, I couldn't quit because I can't let Gia down. And we know like as a mom, like, well, if you know, there's something there for our kid, we'll do whatever it is we got to do.
Lori (06:31.531)
Right, right.
Lori (06:53.886)
Right, right. Yeah. And I saw some people on some little snippets of, you know, afterwards and they were saying a lot of the people that were on how they really felt like they trauma bonded. Even though it was only a couple of days that they really, some people really opened up to each other and some people really formed, you know, relationships that they think that they will continue after the show because of kind of like a trauma bonding. So.
Wendy (06:54.37)
Right?
Wendy (07:25.174)
Yeah, I could definitely see that. I mean, you know, we start out with them, riding on the bus and like they're in the middle of the desert and these like masked men come on and like put hoods on their heads and like, take them off and put them on their knees and in the mud and they split them up. Like you have no idea what like where you're going or what's going on. Like that in itself is terrifying, I think.
Lori (07:40.438)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (07:46.388)
Yeah, and I wondered about that. wondered like, because you know how TV is so scripted and blah, blah, blah. And I was thinking to myself, you know, it'd be really great if, because who knows what it was really like, but it would be really great if they didn't know that that was what was going to happen. Like, it would be really great if what really happened is the producers didn't say a word about it and the bus really got pulled over like that and they had no idea.
Wendy (07:53.474)
Yeah.
Lori (08:15.968)
To me that would be really cool if that's what really happened and it wasn't like, okay, this is what's gonna happen now, you know.
Wendy (08:26.072)
Well, I I think that I don't think they knew specifically what was going to happen. mean, they knew that they were there for special forces training. You know, I don't know that they had any idea, but we, you know, probably won't know. But I do feel like the, what do they call themselves? The direct, a directing staff. I thought DS stood for drill sergeant, but it's the directing staff. They did like target Teresa and Gia like immediately, you know, like I thought that that.
Lori (08:32.884)
Right.
Lori (08:52.285)
most definitely.
Wendy (08:55.52)
Right? thought that that was kind of, know, DS Foxy tells Teresa, you know, to, when he takes off her hood to clear her hair, like away from her face and he calls her, he calls her stupid. And she says like, that's not nice. And he's like, shut up. And then she's like, like she, she mumbles like, where's my child? Like, cause, cause Gia wasn't there. Which I was like, Ooh. And then when you see them, the other, the other guy, DS Billy, he goes up to Gia and it's like,
Lori (09:10.165)
Uh-huh.
Lori (09:15.733)
Right, right.
Wendy (09:25.294)
asks her her name and she's like, know, GGGJ, he's like, are you having a bad hair day? I'm like, what is with these guys? And she smiles. He says, don't smile at me. And then he's like, I don't like you. I was like, oh, okay. Like, I don't know. I don't know that I would expect people to just like be mean to me for no reason. You know what I mean?
Lori (09:35.243)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (09:47.072)
Sure, well, yeah.
Wendy (09:50.402)
and then Sean Johnson, meet, so she's a gymnast and we find out that her husband is on the other team and he's an NFL, a former NFL player. So there's actually two, like, they really are a cute couple. They really are.
Lori (10:01.138)
They were really cute. They were a really cute couple.
Very cute.
Wendy (10:09.742)
Sean was glad that they were split up because she kind of feels like he would look out for her and she wants to be independent. yeah, I like that. I like that for her. The next thing I wrote down is that we see Cody Brown and in his confession, he says, I'm going to say this at the risk of sounding sexist. I think men like to be respected.
Lori (10:19.306)
Yeah, do it yourself.
Lori (10:35.104)
Wendy (10:37.558)
and women like to be loved. I don't care if you love me. I care if you respect me. I don't either. I don't like you. I don't love you. And I don't respect you.
Lori (10:45.238)
Exactly. Exactly. He's very, very, very full of himself. He's very into being super manly. And I find that guys who are overly manly, it's just a complete turnoff. Like if you got to work that hard at being manly, dude, you're not.
Wendy (10:48.608)
Right?
Wendy (11:10.23)
Yeah, he's like overcompensating for what, right?
Lori (11:12.104)
Yes, yes, yes, yes, it's like the loud car or the big truck. No, don't do it.
Wendy (11:15.832)
Right?
Right. Yeah, not necessary. The next contestant we meet, or special forces person, is Nick Young. Nick Young is a former NBA player. Is he former or current? Maybe he's current, I'm not sure. I actually have a list of everybody. Let me just go back and see. Former, he's a former NBA player. So the...
Lori (11:21.598)
No.
Lori (11:36.779)
I don't know. Yeah.
Wendy (11:48.302)
Direct staff person says to him, I'm not taking this serious, says to him, you're not taking this serious because he's smiling. And he's like, but you can get the job done. In his confessional, he says, you can get the job done even if you're smiling. And he had like just this like infectious smile, like, you know what I mean? it's kind of like Gia, like she smiled when he said something. I was like, oh gosh, these poor people.
Lori (12:03.008)
with a smile. Right. Right.
Lori (12:09.844)
Yeah, yeah.
Lori (12:15.766)
So Nick Young, I thought to myself, oh, bro, first thing you should have done is you should have never came with those earrings in your ear. Because in a military type situation, like they were big, they were flashy, and I could just, it's like a fuck with me billboard, like in his ear. In that type of situation, and I just automatically thought to myself, oh, you should have taken them out, you taken them out.
Wendy (12:26.99)
Hmm.
Wendy (12:38.74)
Yeah. Yeah.
Wendy (12:45.812)
Yeah, no, I agree. I didn't even notice them. It's funny, like we don't just different things, right?
Lori (12:49.182)
Yeah, I think he had like three really big like diamond studs in his ear, like big. I thought to myself, first of all, I'd be afraid I'd lose them. And second of all, it's kind of like, I don't know, it's just, it's calling too much attention to something in that type of situation.
Wendy (12:55.757)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (13:04.13)
Yeah.
Wendy (13:09.888)
No, I agree with that. Then they have them all like doing pushups with their face in the mud and the water. And they're like, the one guy was like pushing G his head into, I was like, this is ridiculous. Like it just was too much, I thought in my opinion.
And then he tells them all they have to undress and dress as quick as possible. And they're gonna do their first challenge, which is to repel out of the helicopter, which we find out is 100 feet in the air, which 100 feet is a lot. Like, it's a lot.
Lori (13:41.992)
I can't, I can't. Listen, two feet's a lot. I could, I could never, like it hurt my legs. Like my legs got a weird feeling and I'm just watching it. I could never in a million years.
Wendy (13:59.402)
Yeah, so Brittany says when she finds out like her biggest fear day one are heights and helicopters. I was like, you poor girl. was on the same team as Teresa. Gia is the first one to do it. The first one that we see do it, right? And she says to the direct staff guy, like, can we take our time a little bit? And he's like, no, you need to jump and stay under control.
Lori (14:05.918)
Mm-hmm. boy,
Lori (14:27.104)
Need to go. Yeah.
Wendy (14:28.856)
So she's the youngest recruit and she's 24 years old. And as she exited, he said she had a poor exit, she got hung up. But I mean, she did it. Who cares? Like she did it.
Lori (14:42.506)
That's how I'm saying when she did it. And you know what, to me, in watching that, thought to myself, I would think that the most difficult part would be like being out on the little thing that you stand on the outside and leaning. When you had to lean back, I thought to myself, that must be like the worst part is leaning back like that. It must be really scary.
Wendy (14:59.874)
where they were leaning back. Yeah.
Wendy (15:12.31)
Yeah, and I can't imagine doing something like that without practicing it on the ground first. You know what I mean? Being in that position to wear that harness. You know what I'm saying?
Lori (15:23.286)
yeah, forget it. No. Yeah, no. Like I said, not happening.
Wendy (15:29.754)
Then the, no, I agree. the next, the first guy to go on the other team was Nick Young, the NBA player. He dropped a hundred feet with his eyes shut. Honestly, I probably would done the same thing. You know what mean? I probably would have closed my eyes too.
Lori (15:43.06)
And I love how he said, my god, just the way he said it was so cute.
Wendy (15:49.806)
They didn't show you everybody dropped. mean, they showed you Cody Brown and Brittany Cartwright was the last one to drop and she didn't do so great either. And you could see she was struggling. She was struggling. So then once they all get down, go ahead.
Lori (16:09.098)
Yeah. And it probably wouldn't.
it probably would have been nicer for her if she could have done it without getting caught. think especially like if, cause she got caught up in the beginning and she didn't repel right away. So that probably just totally added to her anxiety. Like if she could have gotten out there and just went, but she got out there and kind of got stuck and then had to go down after that. And that probably just like, you know, sent her over the edge, would send me over there.
Wendy (16:23.789)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (16:33.291)
Right, dropped.
Wendy (16:40.844)
Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know how these... The next thing they have to do is they have to mobilize to the village. So they all have to race and they have to take, they have to haul 800 pounds of supplies uphill. And then the fastest team wins. So team Bravo was hauling barrels and jerry cans. And I don't know why team Alpha only had sacks of grain. They didn't have two different things.
Lori (17:01.792)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (17:05.302)
I thought to myself the same thing too. Like, yeah. And I didn't know what a jerry can was until I saw it. I was like, oh, okay, so that's a jerry can. It's like the big thing that holds like gas or something. don't know. Yeah, I've imagined gas or some kind of, I don't know. I never knew what it was until I saw it. was thinking, what the hell is that? And can you think about how much fuel those helicopters had to...
Wendy (17:10.188)
It didn't make sense to me. It didn't make sense to me.
Wendy (17:20.716)
Gas. Yeah, or water maybe. wasn't sure. Yeah.
Yeah.
Lori (17:34.602)
probably use that day because you know that all that footage gets cut and it makes it seem like everybody went as fast as the guy wanted them to. But you know that took a while.
Wendy (17:44.395)
yeah, right, right.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, definitely. I didn't write it down, the times, like I think when Brittany, when I didn't write, did you happen to write down the time when Brittany dropped out? Was it like 12 hours into it?
Lori (18:02.078)
No, no, no, I didn't write that down.
Wendy (18:05.846)
Yeah, I didn't write it down either, but I want to say it was like 12 hours into the day. So that was in their first challenge. So yeah, they were, like you said, that was probably like a long, you know, a long, yeah.
Lori (18:09.792)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (18:15.318)
So I'm playing. Yeah.
Wendy (18:20.27)
So they've got to race uphill with their stuff. Team Alpha is almost done. But number 12 is Johnny Menzel. He is a former NFL player and Heisman trophy winner. And he's out of steam. I think he was 33 years old. I was like, what is up with this guy? And then
Andrew happened to walk in the room. He's like, he's a legend. What? You're not bad mouthing him. was like, well, I'm not bad mouthing him. But I'm like, but wait a second, the guy's 33 years old. I mean, Teresa just did this and she's what 55 or 56 years old? Like this, you know what I mean? Like, right. But he was really
Lori (18:46.484)
Yeah, right, yeah.
Lori (18:54.59)
Right. Right. So what are doing? Yeah.
But he said he's been playing too much golf. That's what he said. He's been playing too much golf. And you know, I'm wondering, you know, we'll get into it later on, but I'm wondering if he didn't have a full blown panic attack. Right? the van, yeah, we'll get to that. But yeah, I think that he definitely had a...
Wendy (19:04.573)
Right. No, no, that's exactly what he said.
Wendy (19:17.55)
Oh, he definitely did in the van. Oh yeah. One, yeah.
Lori (19:25.16)
I was, I was, when I was watching the show, I'm trying to think to myself, does he really have something physical going on? And then as it progressed, I was like, no, I know what that's like. That's an anxiety attack.
Wendy (19:38.526)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah, I think yes. He did. He I definitely think he did so they they wind up winning the alpha team winds up winning
So the winning team, the alpha team gets to take the bust to the base camp. The losing team, the Bravo team, which is Brittany's team and Theresa's team, they have to run to the base camp and it's 500 yards away. They have to run 500 yards. So that's when Brittany starts and she's like, I just can't do it. And she feels like she's gonna throw up. So she gives up her armband and she quits. And she says that she's mad at herself, which I get.
Lori (20:08.726)
you
Lori (20:16.693)
quite.
Wendy (20:19.118)
probably be pissed at myself too, but you don't need to be, Brittany. You did it. You showed up.
Lori (20:23.678)
that you did it at all. And like I said, it's really a brave thing to know when you're out and to be able to just do it and be like, okay, I'm out. Try it and I'm done.
Wendy (20:28.875)
Right.
Wendy (20:33.368)
Yeah.
Wendy (20:36.811)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
So then on the ride back, Johnny Menzel is complaining that he can't breathe and he's sitting next to Cody Brown. He said his shoulder, it's his shoulder that hurts. I mean, they were doing the grains. So I'm thinking he probably had it up on his shoulder so he could have like pinched a nerve or something. know, Cody's like rubbing his and like telling him to focus on his breathing or something special, like trying to, I thought that was actually very nice of him, like trying to get him through it. But I definitely think that that was a panic attack.
Lori (20:54.549)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (21:03.089)
was very nice of him, yes.
Wendy (21:08.814)
And I don't think they even showed us like the full extent of it, right?
Lori (21:09.15)
I think so.
extent of it. Yeah.
Wendy (21:14.87)
Yeah. Then they arrive at the camp and they call Teresa up and they tell Teresa that she's the toilet whisperer. Anytime the toilet's dirty, she's going to get in trouble. So she, again, the one who was going to be skeeved by someone else's toilet, she goes and gets her spray bottle and walks in the barracks and says, you guys, anyone goes poopy, tell me, and I'll go clean it. I mean, talk about a team player, right?
Lori (21:41.406)
Right, Right, yeah, most definitely. And again, like you said, with a little bit of targeting, it's like, okay, so why are you giving it to her?
Wendy (21:45.324)
Like.
Wendy (21:52.608)
Yeah. Right. Right. But and you know what? She's not letting that bother her. Whereas Jessie Smollett made the comment, I'm going to keep it real. The moment they give me the clean the toilets, I'm out. I'm out. I'm not cleaning one of those bathrooms. Who do you think you are? I you think that you're better than I mean, I
Lori (22:11.702)
I don't know. Hey, listen, you know what he needs to be? He needs to be a real housewife of New Jersey. Like we are. Not the real housewives of New Jersey. These real, real housewives. Well, you got to clean the toilet every week, buddy. So.
Wendy (22:20.984)
Mmm.
Wendy (22:31.116)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you know what? Teresa's cleaning her toilet every week too. You know what I mean? Like she didn't care. You gotta clean the toilet.
Lori (22:37.45)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Wendy (22:42.166)
I don't know, when he said that, that totally rubbed me the wrong way. And honestly, I don't have a lot of respect for Jesse Smollett anyway. Do you know his story?
Lori (22:48.394)
Well, I know his story, yeah. So it's very difficult to have respect for somebody like that. Yeah.
Wendy (22:53.664)
Okay, so what?
We're wait, I don't want to really get into it. I want to see how they dive into it on the show and what their take of it is.
Lori (23:00.81)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I'd be interested to see what happens when he's alone in that interrogation room with those guys. You know, how that guy John was and they were talking to him about his past career and blah, blah, blah. So I'm very interested for that guy to have that with the guys. That'll be fun. Yeah.
Wendy (23:05.858)
Because just after that, Cody Brown.
Wendy (23:13.942)
Yes. Yes.
Wendy (23:20.258)
Johnny, yeah.
Wendy (23:31.202)
Yes, me too, me too, because Cody Brown actually even says to him, you know, what's your name? And he's like, Jesse. And he's like, Jesse, like what? What's your full name? And as soon as he said it, Cody knew exactly who he was. And then Jesse was walking outside with Eva and he says, no, like I think now it's, now he knows like who I am. And he's already nervous that it's, you know, of course, I mean.
Lori (23:44.63)
I'll you later.
Lori (23:52.47)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (23:57.119)
Right, well.
Wendy (23:59.256)
So then the DSs get together and they're going to talk about the recruits. And they do talk about Jesse Smollett. They don't really have a read on him yet. They think Teresa's a little dippy, like mother like daughter. She looks like she's turning up for, God bless you, she looks like she's turning up for an audition on Dynasty. Like, okay, that's who she is though. That was funny, that was funny.
Lori (24:14.518)
Excuse me, all right.
Lori (24:22.6)
That was funny. That was funny. Right? is, yes, right.
Wendy (24:28.47)
And what they said about Johnny Menzel is, all we know is he's a big name. He's like an empty wetsuit. He's mentally and physically falling apart already. So that's why they, you know, there was a reason they brought him in. So my guess is next is either going to be Teresa or Jessie Smollett. I hope it's Jessie Smollett, but we'll have to wait and see. Been back in the barracks, Gia said she didn't know that Johnny had such a legendary story.
Lori (24:36.202)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (24:49.61)
Yeah, I'll have to wait and see.
Wendy (24:58.934)
and then we find that he's summoned to go talk to the DSs. And they start out with they had concerns about his poor performance and he was the best in the world. And then by 23, he was washed up. Andrew said he was a walk-on, it's very sad, he was a walk-on Heisman Trophy winner. Like he just walked on and...
Lori (25:03.712)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (25:19.518)
It's very sad.
throat snort.
Wendy (25:27.138)
you know, like, this doesn't happen. Like, he obviously had a lot of talent and he, you know, he said he just couldn't breathe and, you know, he's not in good shape, you know, he's, he said, they said, well, you were the talk of the town, what happened? And I think he was very vulnerable and very honest, you know? He said, you know, when you...
Lori (25:28.224)
Yeah. Yeah.
Lori (25:45.079)
Very honest, yes, yes, but fame can mess with you in all different kinds of ways. So if he's a football player, he's not a celebrity, so all of a you have to be a football player and a celebrity, and that can be difficult.
Wendy (26:08.342)
Yeah, definitely, definitely. He said that, you know, after he had the most success, which was winning the Heisman Trophy, you know, freshman year, he got treated differently. So they're like, my gosh, this guy got it as, you know, as a freshman. Like, he felt like he didn't have to put the work in. I mean, when you get like the biggest award you can get in the beginning of your career, right? You think like, you know, like I just need to show up, but that's not how it works.
Lori (26:32.725)
Right.
Lori (26:36.596)
Right. Right. Well, it's like people who are
Wendy (26:38.638)
And by doing that, like he lost.
Lori (26:42.324)
Like people who peak in high school. It's like people who peak in high school. That's same thing. Yeah.
Wendy (26:44.44)
Who or what? Yes, exactly.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, so, you know, he kind of admits that he was, you know, sat back on his laurels and he gave up a real opportunity to have a football career. He also talks about that, you know, now he lives with shame and regret and there was a point where he didn't want to live. He didn't, he just wanted to end his life. And you can see that, like you can see that that's absolutely a real moment. And I think that, you know, him being there,
is gonna help him tremendously even just for that reason alone, just for his mental health, like to push through something and to be able to do it, right?
Lori (27:27.946)
absolutely. Yeah. That's like that DS said to him, every single day that you're here, you will get a new view of yourself and this is the best therapy you could ever get, which I believe to be true.
Wendy (27:42.062)
I do too. I do too. Then he goes back into the camp and they ask him how it was. Like, was it scary, intimidating? He's like, no, they're just, you know, trying to get to know you.
Lori (27:55.798)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (27:58.53)
And then they're all sleeping and the DS's are like, yeah, that's not gonna happen. So they go in and they wake them all up and they tell them that they have five minutes to get dressed and be out on the square. And they all make it in time.
Lori (28:11.606)
And you that I looked it up, it was 2345 military time, which was 1145 PM. Because they put the time on there 2345. And I was like, well, I don't know what that is, because it's military time. So 1145 PM. So imagine you're exhausted and you just get to sleep and then boom, wake up.
Wendy (28:22.03)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. 45, yeah.
Wendy (28:35.212)
Yeah. Yep. So then they have to, they get out there, they have to sprint and then they dunk in the water and then they're doing lunges and they're doing army crawls and they're doing burpees. They're doing like all these like crazy physical exercises. I mean, their goal there is they're trying to break them. They're trying to get them to do whatever it is that they want them or need them to do, which is, you know, I guess only the strong are going to survive at this point, right?
I don't know. I think I like this show. I do. I'm interested in getting to know the whole cast. So I'm gonna go through the whole cast because I wrote them all down. let's see. Cody Brown, we said him, the television personality, Brittany Cartwright. Brandel Cobb, also a former NFL player. Eric Decker, another former NFL player.
Jesse James Decker, a singer. I actually don't know who that is. Do you know who that is?
Lori (29:36.166)
No, I do not. And she, and all these people are on there now.
Wendy (29:42.19)
Yes, these are all 18. So there's 18 people out there.
Lori (29:43.208)
Okay. All righty. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's why I was, when I saw the different cast, I was like, I don't even know if I saw them, but okay. So we'll just have to wait and see.
Wendy (29:54.614)
Yeah. Yeah, exactly. So he's a, he's a singer. Then there's Andrew East, another former NFL player who's married to Shawn Johnson East, a performer, you know, professional gymnast. Mark Estes, who is a social media influencer. don't know him. Gia Giudice, social media, Teresa, we know her. Chanel Iman is a model. I don't know who that is. Brianna
Lori (30:06.752)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (30:11.604)
No, I don't.
Lori (30:19.72)
I don't know who that is either.
Wendy (30:22.894)
LaPillia, I mean, they called Brianna Chicken Fry. She's a social media influencer. Johnny Manziel, former NFL player. Eva Marcel, model television personality. She was also on Real Housewives of Atlanta. Ravi Patel is an actor. Christie Pierce Rampone. She is a former professional soccer player.
Lori (30:27.157)
I don't know who that is.
Lori (30:39.678)
okay.
Wendy (30:51.118)
think she was on the US women's soccer team. Jesse Smollett, actor, and Nick Young, former NBA player. So there's a lot of former athletes. And you automatically think the former athletes are going to be better at this. But I don't know if that's going to be the case, to be quite honest with you. I don't know if that's going to be the case.
Lori (30:53.504)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (30:59.413)
Okay.
Lori (31:07.51)
Mm-hmm.
Lori (31:13.664)
Yeah, I don't know because a lot of it is mental.
Wendy (31:14.39)
I think,
Yeah. Yeah.
Lori (31:19.028)
A lot of it is mental, know, this it's breaking to make you kind of kind of a deal. Now I did see something where Teresa and Gia were talking and they were both, they both said how nice all of the men on the cast were, that they were very gentlemanly, that they always tried to help the women out, like they're carrying these big heavy backpacks and they would come up behind.
Wendy (31:22.296)
Yeah.
Lori (31:47.127)
You know, if a girl was carrying the backpack, they would come up behind them and lift it up so they didn't have to have the full weight. And she said that they were just really very gentlemanly and very kind, the men. So I thought that was really sweet. And then Cody, Cody, three days into it, tore a hamstring.
Wendy (31:52.076)
Mm-hmm.
Wendy (32:01.55)
I thought that was sweet also.
Wendy (32:09.468)
how do know that?
Lori (32:09.926)
I saw that, yeah, was like, the guy I saw some something, Yeah, three days into our tour hamstrings. So he was like consulting with all the athletes, like how do I work with this and not damage things further and blah, blah, blah. So that was kind of interesting.
Wendy (32:15.212)
Okay.
Wendy (32:28.75)
That is interesting. mean, I would think you shouldn't continue if you did that, but who knows? Because I don't know. I don't know if our listeners know this, but I know that when Denise Richard did it, she popped her breast implant.
Lori (32:29.909)
did it.
Lori (32:33.91)
I don't know, who knows, who knows, who knows.
Lori (32:45.062)
I saw that I was like, my goodness, like jumping from a bridge or something.
Wendy (32:47.18)
Yes. And she lived with it. Yeah, like into what? Yes. And she lived with it, like popped for like a while. Like she didn't get it fixed until recently. So like, yeah, I mean, you think you're, you're signing these, you know, we just recently watched Salt Lake City where Meredith said, you know, nothing's going to happen to us sleeping in the RV because, you know, there'll be a lawsuit, but you would think that nothing's going to happen to you.
Lori (32:56.682)
Mm-hmm. Right. Yeah.
Wendy (33:15.554)
because you're on TV, but that's not the case because I'm sure everything you sign says that you could, you know, up to and including death. Like you can be injured up to including death. I'm sure they've signed something that says that.
Lori (33:21.768)
Absolutely. Because it doesn't, yeah, because it doesn't seem like this is any namby-pamby. This is you sign on and whatever happens happens. Most definitely. Yeah. So yeah, so I think it's going to be fun.
Wendy (33:35.168)
Right, exactly. Exactly. Yeah. So.
I do too, I'm excited to see everyone else's stories. That's what I like, I like the stories, I like the team building. So different from Housewives, because we're not used to team building or, know, we're used to, right, right. So I think this will be a good contrast for us, and I think we'll get to see different sides of Teresa. And maybe, I don't know, maybe once Kelly starts watching it, maybe she will.
Lori (33:54.523)
anybody working together in harmony at all. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Wendy (34:09.364)
like Teresa? Actually, that's going to be my question for the audience. Anyone that listens to us, do you think that after Kelly starts watching this, she will like Teresa or not? Yes, have a change of heart. That's it. That's a better question. Do you think Kelly will have a change of heart after watching Teresa on Special Forces? All right. Until next time, thank you for watching and listening. Please subscribe and give us five star reviews. Bye.
Lori (34:18.858)
Have a change of heart.
Lori (34:29.728)
We shall see.
Lori (34:36.074)
Yes, please do. Bye.
Wendy (34:46.891)
got to say, I'm Kelly.
Lori (34:47.703)
I push out.
